As a non-profit organization, we work to develop teams that can walk into a city and engage young people on every level...rich, poor, healthy, sick, all races, with or without education. We aggressively walk into their lives and establish friendships. These friendships then become opportunities for those who are hungry for change to be mentored and drawn into small group communities. These small group communities and mentoring relationships are then used to equip the young people and their families to walk out of their problems and into their dreams. In the end, these individuals are equipped to turn and help others.
The great secret to Boy With a Ball's effectiveness in working with young people can be summed up in one word: TEAM. The advantages of sending teams out into neighborhoods across a city are dramatic. Young people gain the support of several caring individuals rather than just one and they're able to watch the team model healthy relationships in a way that shows them rather than tells.
We are visionaries, social architects, consultants, mentors, leaders, artists, musicians and student leaders. We are heroes with the skill sets and giftings required to walk into any arena in which young people exist, to connect with their hearts and to lead them to health.
