Boy With a Ball is excited to have a new opportunity to participate in a program that will allow us to help these young people emerge out of a high-risk situation and to grow into leaders capable of reaching their dreams.
NEXT 2010
The NEXT Conference Goes Out With a Bang!
Young people and older leaders from five countries gathered from January 4-9 in San Antonio, Texas in what will turn out to be the final NEXT Conference. The conference brought together some historical veteran leaders including Charles Simpson, Dr. Robert Grant and Dr. Dow Robinson as well as a diverse group of younger leaders to discuss the topic, "Thinking Globally, Acting Locally."
NEXT began in 1999 after being first envisioned by Susannah Petrie who teamed with Chris Hyatt to make the initial conference a reality in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Leaders like Robert Grant, Paul Petrie and Gary Henley joined with a small group of younger leaders for several days at that event to help "pass on" and see the next generation equipped to know and follow Jesus and then to walk out and impact their local churches and communities.
In 2004, the conference was continued in San Antonio, Texas with Boy With A Ball taking the administrative helm. A planning meeting for the future of the event was hosted in Atlanta, Georgia in 2005 and then the conference continued annually each January from 2005 until this past event here in 2010.
The event served as a platform for the development of a national community of younger leaders while connecting them in with older leaders to help them be equipped to know Jesus more deeply as well as to return to their local communities and make a difference.
This final conference was rich in content while providing opportunity for friendships to begin that crossed age, geographic and cultural boundaries. In the end, the final NEXT was perhaps the greatest.
