Mentoring in Southside San Antonio 10/27/09
Boy With a Ball is excited to have a new opportunity to participate in a program that will allow us to help these young people emerge out of a high-risk situation and to grow into leaders capable of reaching their dreams.
Boy With a Ball at its core is about developing and releasing leaders who can turn and make the same impact on others. When a young person is reached and developed by BWAB, it is not only their life that is impacted but all of the hundreds and thousands of lives that they turn and reach.
This is exactly what is happening right now with Boy With a Ball/El Niņo y la Bola's San Jose, Costa Rica team where BWAB founder Jamie Johnson is moving back to Boy With a Ball's global headquarters in San Antonio, Texas and Anna Currie is stepping in to become the Costa Rican organization's Executive Director.
Anna Currie first came to Boy With a Ball through one of the organization's summer camps in 2002. Anna then moved to San Antonio, Texas where her own life was dramatically changed within Boy With a Ball programs. Anna then went on to spend time serving on Boy With a Ball's Southside San Antonio team. In January of 2005, she headed down to Costa Rica for the first time in a study abroad program and then she came down to be a founding member of BWAB's Costa Rican team in the Fall of 2006.
Anna's extensive skills both administratively and in the field are a perfect fit for helping this rapidly-growing Costa Rican NGO continue to expand and develop. She will serve alongside BWAB/El Niņo y La Bola Team Leader Jose "Chicky" Arias and Regional Director Josue Garcia Sarmiento. BWAB Global's Executive Director Jamie Johnson, his wife, Kathy, and children, Joshua, Paulina and Josiah, will arrive in San Antonio on December 15, 2009 where Jamie will focus his attention on supporting the development of Boy With a Ball San Antonio, Texas as well as developing BWAB Global as an international intermediary capable of expanding our work into new countries.
